Printed & Domed Markers

Enamel cannot hold a photograph, a gradient or fine multi-colour detail — the design has to be built from separated cells with metal lines between them. When the artwork genuinely needs full colour, a printed marker under a clear epoxy dome is the right answer and it looks superb.

Two things happen to a dome that do not happen to enamel. It collects fine scratches from the pocket, which softens the gloss, and prolonged UV yellows the epoxy slightly — a marker that lives on a cap in the sun ages faster than one in a bag.

None of that makes it a bad product. It makes it a different product, and we would rather quote both and let you pick than photograph the enamel one and ship the domed one.

Printed or enamel?

Enamel for a crest, a logo or anything that can be built from separated colours — it lasts far better. Printed and domed when the artwork is photographic or has gradients enamel simply cannot hold.

Does the dome really yellow?

Slightly, with prolonged UV, and it picks up fine scratches in a pocket. It is a real difference from enamel and we would rather say it up front than have it discovered in August.
